Pilates Matwork

I was first introduced to the Pilates Method through matwork classes in 1988, when I moved to London. From the start I loved the technique and was inspired to change my career . I trained to be a teacher at Pilates off the Square, on the two year comprehensive course which covers both matwork and apparatus.

I started 'Pilates Matwork' in 1992 with only two classes at the Royal Free Hospital Recreation Club, and for many years was one of a few teachers who ran matwork only classes. I've worked in a wide variety of centres, taught Drama and Dance students, physiotherapy and pain management patients and clients from 9 to 90 years old and regularly lectures on Pilates for the Older Adult.

I combine teaching matwork in North London, with running a one year in depth training course which attracts people from a variety of background and produces graduates who go on to teach Pilates as a career. Our aim is to produce professional, confident and creative Matwork teachers.
