Mum and Baby

Pilates improves postural awareness and muscle control, reducing the split in abdominal muscles by building the abdominal muscles from the deepest muscles outwards. You will work to regain your core muscles from pelvic floor to your oblique’s, aiding your recovery, trimming down your waist and strengthening your entire body.

You are welcome to bring your baby to class, there will be a play area set up with toys and a blanket. Baby must be at newborn stage and not crawling. This is a relaxed class and will probably be longer than an hour to allow for you to attend to your baby if they need feeding, changing or cuddles!

Start this class as soon as you have had your 6 week checkup and have confirmed with a medical professional that you can now exercise.

Kajoma Studio is a new Pilates studio nestled just outside of Corbridge, Northumberland. Visiting the studio you are greeted by the owner, Katherine Brady, a Polestar Pilates instructor certified in Hong Kong. The countryside location and looking out to open views are what really makes this studio special. Practicing Pilates with a view of rolling fields is an ideal way to work out your body and mind. And that’s what Pilates is all about; the body and mind connection, Katherine says.
‘Pilates is a long established method of exercise and physical movement designed to stretch, strengthen and balance the body. With regular practise Pilates can help improve posture, muscle tone, balance and mobility, as well as relieve stress and tension. Pilates can complement any sports training by developing whole body strength and flexibility, and help reduce the risk of injury.’
The studio is easy to find, on the A68 with ample parking. There’s private class booking available along with weekday group mat classes. The group classes are tailored to specific levels and requirements so you can find the right class for you. Classes include beginner, intermediate, a posture class for people who tend to slouch a lot, a 50’s and up class and a mum and baby class. There is definitely a class here to suit your body and ability. Maximum of six people in each class makes even the group classes feel like a private class as Katherine can concentrate on each of your form and movement.
