I have been teaching Pilates since 2007, but have been practising for around 14 years.
I came to Pilates originally out of desperation. I had always been quite fit and active but since the birth of my children had suffered periodically from a bad back. Then out of the blue really, my back pain became so bad that I could no longer cope. I expect many of you have been there! Having to roll out of bed in the morning; being unable to stand straight; losing the natural curve in the lower spine. Eventually, I sought professional help and was sent to a physiotherapist. I recognise now that the exercises he prescribed were basically Pilates exercises.
Then someone suggested that Pilates might provide a solution for me. So I started going to local mat work classes and loved it. I also spent some time at the Scott Studio in Castle Cary where I was able to use the studio equipment.
I made up my mind to train as a Pilates teacher and thanks to Somerset Learning and Leisure was able to achieve this. Later I went on to study studio Pilates with Clare Worman of Pilates Training Solutions.
I also run mat classes in Ilminster and around the local area. These classes are generally oversubscribed but if you are interested and would like further information, please give me a ring or drop me an email.
