Sophie has had a passion for movement since the age of 4 when she started dancing. She grew up surrounded by dance, music and sport.
During her Year Abroad, as part of her University course, Sophie spent 6 months in Chile. It was here that she became fascinated with the circus and carried out research for her dissertation whilst living with The Golden Circus in Santiago. She was allowed the opportunity to train alongside the performers and aid them in obtaining their movement potential. On her return to Sheffield she continued her circus training for her own personal development, which became the key to her understanding the importance of movement sequencing and correcting movement dysfunction. She learned to appreciate the unique approach that Pilates brings to improving performance, helping prevent injury and combining them to form an essential element in rehabilitation.
Since qualifying with Body Control Pilates, Sophie has worked closely with a physiotherapist and has taken a keen interest in teaching Pilates to people with back and neck pain and following sports injuries. She has undertaken a Pilates course on pregnancy. She has a keen interest in both Women’s Health and Sports rehabilitation.
