Where your Pilates journey starts.
This is a 4 week set course for Beginners of Pilates to learn what it's all about and start on the Matwork programme.
A pre requisite to joining our mat classes. (Not necessary if you are an experienced Pilates go-er already, you can just go straight into class or do a 1:1 refresher 1:1 first)
We cover:
The Stott Pilates basic principles; the basic but really important bits that underpin everything you do in Pilates but also how to be body aware outside of the class too. We don't want you to just go through the motions of the movements, we want you to know why and how you're doing it!
Learn how to find and stabilise your "neutral" spine, what are and how to engage your "core," learn to keep your upper body tension free and discover a new way of breathing that will help your lung capacity, help with respiratory conditions and improve your Pilates control.
Then onto learning a load of Pilates exercises from the Essential Matwork repertoire, including full warm up, basic exercises and harder progressions. We'll also introduce you to some of the small equipment that appears in our classes.
Ensuring you are safe, effective and introduced to the world of Pilates before you join our classes.
Please remember this is a set scheduled course so please check that you can attend all 4 weeks to in order to learn the material correctly and effectively. If you miss a week, we will recap briefly the following week but we recommend you book in for an extra 1:1 in order to go over what you missed in more depth. (extra costs apply) Please don't miss week 1 which is the key principles section.
