Pilates is a mat based body conditioning class that focuses primarily on core strength, flexibility and posture. It is suitable for everyone, all ages and abilities are welcome and every exercise can be modified to suit your individual needs.
This class will have a focus on some of the main causes of back pain including creating movement and strengthening up the postural muscles in the back as well as working on flexibility and mobility around the hips and shoulders. Each session can be tailored to your specific needs and every exercise will have easier and harder options available so you are guaranteed to find the right level for you to work at.

In the 17 years that I have been in the fitness industry I have worked with a wide range of people who all had different goals, aspirations and targets and I worked closely with each one in order to help them get what they wanted. In a group exercise environment everyone is after something different and it's my job to make sure that my Pilates sessions are suitable and effective for everyone. I get great satisfaction from seeing people in my groups adapt to my sessions and improvements are made week in and week out. I never get tired of hearing how someone's bad back has eased or how the pain they were in before has gone away! I have been a Pilates teacher for 12 years and still love it, I don't think I'll ever get tired of it!
Taking part in classes is a really effective way of achieving your goals whether they involve injury rehabilitation, toning up or just for your general health and well-being and Pilates can help you to achieve all of these. There is also a big social element of exercising with others which I think is really important, I want my groups to feel relaxed and welcome and so I encourage an informal, friendly atmosphere in my classes, feel free to ask me anything!
Emma :-)
