Buff Bones® Level 1 class.
If you already love yoga or Pilates, but are now looking for a weekly workout specifically focussed on bone health to support your fitness goals, Buff Bones® is the perfect fit. Certain traditional Pilates & yoga exercises may not be suitable for someone with osteoporosis or osteopenia, including many movements that involve rounding of the upper back, arching of the lower back or certain twisting movements, so you would need to make modifications in your regular classes.
Buff Bones® already does this for you so you - in my classes, you'll learn why these exercises are best avoided, along with fantastic alternatives that are safer for your bones & equally effective, so you can relax and enjoy the class knowing that your bones are being looked after.
Even if you don't have low bone density my classes will empower you to make informed decisions about how to move & exercise as you age, helping to keep your bones strong & healthy for longer. This Level 1 class is a Beginners class, introducing you to the foundations of the Buff Bones programme. It teaches you bone safe movements and great technique for beginning your bone health journey. Also suitable for anyone wanting to try a beginners/ improvers pilates-based movement class with a bone-health focus.

Hello, my name is Karen and I am a qualified Body Control Pilates® teacher running weekly Pilates classes in Balcombe, West Sussex. I love to help people feel better in their bodies, move well, stand tall & reduce their aches & pains. It's my mission to share the many benefits of Pilates with my clients & teach them how to stay strong, avoid injuries and prevent or manage wear-&-tear in their joints. Having practised Pilates for almost 30 years (attending classes with people of all ages and fitness levels) I am convinced of the great benefits that Pilates can bring to anyone.
In my small, friendly classes I strive to teach in a simple, straightforward and fun way, helping you to understand and perform each exercise well. We learn about posture, balance, bone health and mobility. We focus on improving strength and alignment in our joints and exercising every part of our body evenly. We use a selection of small equipment such as balls, resistance bands, toning circles and foam rollers to maximise the benefit you can gain from each exercise and to bring variety and interest to the classes.
I am also an Advanced Buff Bones® instructor thrilled to bring this amazing medically-endorsed bone health programme to Balcombe. Buff Bones® combines Pilates, strength-training & functional balance exercises & is great for those with Osteoporosis or anyone interested in helping their bones.
As your teacher my goal is to help you understand how your body moves and teach you to move in the healthiest way possible, with the hope that with practise you can move freely and easily not just during classes but in every part of your life.
