Hi, my name is Emma and I come from a very sporty background. Having grown up playing a range of sports, my heart settled with basketball. Playing this sport for 16 years has resulted in several injuries, including the back, which is where my interest and appreciation for Pilates began. Whilst I was at University, I studied Anatomy and Physiology as part of my Sports Therapy degree and became fascinated with how the body works, moves and adapts to its surroundings.
Once I finished my degree, I focused on setting up my business promoting Sports Therapy but also started working as an Exercise Therapist for people with Multiple Sclerosis. Having already been aware of the benefits associated with Pilates, working with MS patients made me realise how important it is to build strength from the inside out, rebalancing the body and ensuring correct alignment, helping to improve posture and balance. So, with this in mind I decided to become a qualified instructor with Body Control Pilates.
I firmly believe that Pilates is hugely beneficial to people from all sorts of backgrounds, whether you want to work on a one to one basis or in a group class, using mat work exercises , the Body Control Pilates method can help you achieve your desired goals.
